General Eye Screening

GENERAL EYE SCREENING

A detailed eye screening package includes a comprehensive list of tests and clinical examinations (including dilation of the pupil) done by an ophthalmologist. It aims to detect eye conditions such as refractive errors (spectacles prescription), presbyopia (“lao hua”), cataract, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other retinal diseases.

Adult General Eye Screening

  1. Visual Acuity (Test for distance & near vision)
  2. IOP (Intra-ocular eye pressure)
  3. Fundus Photography (Detects eye conditions affecting your optic nerve, macula, and retina by accessing photographs of the back of your eyes)
  4. Checking of anterior eye health by the ophthalmologist
  5. Checking of the posterior eye health by the ophthalmologist with dilation (Dilated examination of the fundus)

Early Childhood Eye Screening

  1. Visual Acuity (Test for distance & near vision)
  2. IOP (Intra-ocular eye pressure)
  3. Refraction (Power of the eyes)
  4. Check for any Strabismus/ Squint eyes
  5. Colour Vision
  6. Stereopsis (3D vision)
  7. General check of Anterior and Posterior eye health by the ophthalmologist (No dilation)

To note:

  • Please set aside approximately  2 hours of your time for your eye screening.
  • Please bring your spectacles during your appointment.
  • Contact lens should not be worn, we recommend you to put on your spectacles instead.
  • After pupil dilation, your near vision may be temporarily affected. You are advised not to drive after your eye screening and will most likely resume normal vision within the next 12 to 24 hours.
